Surpass on the cards for tourism

TOURISM is poised for a 10 per cent growth this year, surpassing earlier forecasts of 5 per cent, Reserve Bank of Fiji governor Barry Whiteside said.

Solar lights for tourist town

LOCAL Government and Urban Development Minister Colonel Samuela Saumatua on Saturday commissioned solar-powered streetlights in Sigatoka Town.
The launching at the Melrose Bridge roundabout means all streetlights in the Sigatoka Town area will be powered by solar from now on.

Arrivals go up 16pc

VISITOR arrivals into the country have jumped to 631,000 last year from 542,186 in 2009, an increase of 16 per cent. Half of the visitors were from popular source markets in Australia and New Zealand and statistics for this year are also increasing.
