"The Board of Directors of the Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism Association met today.

 

The Directors expressed extreme concern on the situation developing in Australia and New Zealand where there is threatened industrial action against flights to and from Fiji."

A-G: New marketing strategies for tourism

"Government is looking at putting new marketing strategies in place so that tourism becomes a sustainable industry for a long time and not just for a couple of years. This comment was made by the Attorney-General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while announcing the tourism arrival figures for April which reported an increase of 23.7 per cent in visitor arrivals when compared to last April."

Record visitor arrivals for month of April

"For the first time in Fiji’s history, visitor arrivals for the month of April have surpassed the 50,000 mark. Tourism Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the total visitor arrivals also looks good so far with the total for January to April this year standing at 186,634 compared to 171,438 arrivals for the same period last year"
