Resort to switch off

FIJI Beach Resort and Spa has taken a new initiative to support the 2012 Earth Hour Plus. The resort which is managed by the Hilton Group of Hotels will switch off its current lighting system for an hour to raise awareness on the need to take action on climate change.

Fiji moves to cut Qantas 'control'

QANTAS is set to reduce its influence on the board of Fiji's national flag carrier, Air Pacific, after the island state's military government moved to strip its second-largest shareholder of 'effective control'.

Qantas veto and supermajority powers taken away

The Fijian government has changed airline ownership rules in a new Civil Aviation Ownership and Control of National Airlines Decree which now takes away the veto and supermajority rights given to Qantas in Air Pacific. The Fijian government owns 51% of Air Pacific while Qantas owns 46.3% of Fiji’s national carrier.

New Decree

THE Fiji government has passed a decree that says it will take away effective control of Air Pacific from minority shareholder Qantas airlines. This after Attorney-General and Civil Aviation Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the announcement of the Civil Aviation (Ownership and Control of National Airlines) Decree 2012 yesterday.
