Let's Play Our Part: PM

Tourists Should be Given the Best

THE recipient of a major tourism industry award believes tourists should be given the best service to ensure they return to their homes with good memories of Fiji.

 

Matelita Tuinivanua, 46, believes that working in the tourism industry is not all about money "but the service which is given to guests to keep them happy."

Matava Resort Wins Environment Award

PM, AG Honoured

Last night, Fiji tourism saluted those who contributed to the advancement of the industry in the past year at the AON Excellence in Tourism Awards, held at the Warwick Fiji Resort and Spa.

Weather related advisory by Air Pacific

In anticipation of additional delays expected as a result of the weather system now moving through the Fiji Islands, Air Pacific and Pacific Sun request that all customers who are travelling between now and Tuesday, February 22nd check their website (airpacific.com) or contact the Air Pacific call centre for the latest update on flight information. 

Lightning and thunderstorms disrupted several flights from Nadi yesterday and today. Weather-related delays include Air Pacific's Friday evening flight to Honolulu (via Apia) which was delayed by two hours and a number of Saturday morning outbound flights which were impacted by passing storms.

With a tropical storm front projected to pass west of the Fiji Group over the next few days, both airlines expect more flight disruptions.

"We are closely monitoring this weather system, and while we plan to operate all flights as scheduled, customers should be prepared for possible delays. As a result, please check our web site (
airpacific.com) or contact our Call Centre for the latest flight information" said Dave Pflieger, Managing Director & CEO of Air Pacific.

Mission Success

Happy New Year

NAVITI Resort in the Coral Coast marked the start of the Chinese New Year last night with a gala dinner attended by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and community leaders. In Chinese Horoscopes 2011 is The Year of the Golden Rabbit which starts today and ends on January 22, 2012.

 

Former army commander Colonel Paul Manueli said the Rabbit was a lucky sign - and the celebration timely, in that it coincided with the recent change in management. Col Manueli is a director of Silver Beach Properties Limited which manages Warwick Resort and Spa, Naviti Resort and Tambua Sands. Guests were entertained by the Police Jazz Band who surprised many with their repertoire of Chinese songs.

Pac Sun Grounds Service

THE permanent grounding of a Pacific Sun Twin Otter aircraft last week has brought temporary disruptions to flight schedules as a replacement aircraft is sought.

 

According to a press statement issued by the airline, thrice weekly services between Nausori and Levuka will cease as of this week until March or April.

Airline Announces Flight Schedule Changes

The country’s domestic airline Pacific Sun yesterday announced temporary changes to its flight schedule brought about by a delay in the delivery of a replacement aircraft.

The most severe impact will be Levuka, as the current three services a week to Bureta Airport from Nausori will have to cease temporarily from this week until March or April.

India Target

MUMBAI, Chenai, Hydrabad, and Delhi will have better knowledge of Fiji's attractions as Tourism Fiji continued its marketing in India. In a government statement, Tourism Fiji chief executive Josefa Tuamoto said India had some of the richest people in the world and their film industry was one that Fiji would try to attract. "The workshops were possible through the Tourism Fiji and Global Destinations.

Attorney-General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is heading a delegation that is promoting Fiji in India.

 

Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Josefa Tuamoto said four major cities in India were engaged in learning about white sandy beaches, friendly people and the wonderful food on offer in the tropical paradise called Fiji.
